This command will spawn ED-E on top of you.
ED-E, short for Eyebot Duraframe Subject E, is a unique companion and a potential valuable asset to the player in the game Fallout: New Vegas. It's a Duraframe eyebot upgraded with extensive monitorization devices and weapons from the Enclave, an organization with advanced technology from before the Great War.
ED-E was created by Whitley at Adams Air Force Base as part of the enclave's Eyebot Duraframe project. Afterward, ED-E became lost and traveled thousands of miles over the Mojave Desert to Nevada, where it ended up in Primm.
When the player finds ED-E in Primm, it is in a state of disrepair. It can be repaired by the player with a Repair skill of 65, or they can use specific parts such as three pieces of scrap metal, two sensor modules, and some scrap electronics.
As a companion, ED-E follows the player throughout the game. It is proficient in ranged attacks dealing energy damage to enemies and has increased armor. It can also access electronic locks of a low security level which can be quite convenient in certain scenarios.
It has its own optional companion quest, "ED-E My Love." The quest is activated when specific dialogue is overheard or certain areas are discovered, triggering latent recordings in ED-E's data banks. This quest can lead to some powerful upgrades for ED-E, increasing its utility.
ED-E communicates through a series of beeps and whistles, similar to R2-D2 from the Star Wars franchise, thus it expresses a wide range of responses and emotions just using these sounds. As such, ED-E can be quite endearing for players.
It should be noted that there's a second version of ED-E in the Lonesome Road DLC, a personality clone of the original ED-E. This version has more developed characteristics, backstory and can provide unique dialogue. This ED-E's fate will affect the original ED-E's in Mojave at the end of the DLC.
