Fallout: New Vegas is famous for the occasional stuck quest — an objective that won't tick off, an NPC who won't talk, a stage that never fires. The console can force a quest forward. You'll need the quest's ID (and sometimes a stage number), both on the quest IDs list.
Advance to a specific stage — setstage
Open the console with ~ (how to open the console), then use setstage <quest id> <stage>:
This is the cleanest fix: jump the quest to the stage just past where it broke. Each quest's stages are listed on its wiki page.
Complete a quest outright — completequest
Marks the whole quest complete. Good when you just want it off your Pip-Boy.
Reset a broken quest — resetquest
Wipes the quest's progress so you can start it again from scratch — a last resort when stages are tangled.
Other useful fixes
- movetoqt — teleport to the current quest target if a marker leads nowhere.
- caqs — complete all quest stages (debug; can have side effects, use sparingly).
- tcl — no-clip through a door or wall that's blocking progress.
Find every quest's ID on the quest IDs list.
