tcl Console Command
Documentation and examples for the tcl command in Fallout: New Vegas.
tcl
This command enables the no clipping mode, allowing for free movement. This is useful when you are stuck.
Examples
Here is an example of how to use tcl.
Turns off collision so you can move through solid objects. Run tcl again to restore collision.
In-depth description
What tcl does
tcl (toggle collision) disables collision detection for the player. With it on you can walk straight through walls, floors, and scenery, and you can move vertically (look up to rise, look down to descend) to fly through the world.
How to use it
Open the console with ~, type tcl, and press Enter. The command toggles — run it again to turn collision back on. Make sure you are standing on solid ground when you re-enable collision so you do not fall through the map.
Common uses
- Freeing yourself when you get stuck in geometry.
- Reaching areas blocked by a closed door or broken navmesh.
- Exploring or taking screenshots from otherwise unreachable vantage points.
