How to Add Perks in Fallout: New Vegas

Grant any perk instantly with the player.addperk command and a perk base ID — plus how to remove perks again in Fallout: New Vegas.

You can grant any perk without meeting its level, SPECIAL, or skill requirements using the player.addperk command and the perk's base ID.

The command

Open the console with ~ (how to open the console), then run player.addperk <perk id>:

That grants Strong Back (extra carry weight). Swap in any ID from the perk IDs list— each perk's page shows its base ID and a ready-to-copy command.

Removing a perk

Added the wrong one? Remove it with player.removeperk and the same ID:

Notes

  • Adding a perk by console does not use up a perk point, so you can stack as many as you like.
  • Perks with ranks (e.g. Intense Training) can be added multiple times; run the command once per rank.
  • Traits and companion perks are added the same way — they're all on the perk list.
